Everything you need to know about aircraft charters

Everyone who flies an aircraft charter has their first time. It’s a new experience flying on a private plane, so you might not know what to expect or how to choose the right aircraft. Our team at Talent Touring Flight Management is here to help with a beginner’s guide of things you need to know.

What to expect

Flying a charter is a very different experience from flying commercial. Not only will your experience be new, what to expect will be completely different. We have a few items for you below that will help you know what to expect with your flight.

Catering

Getting catered an in-flight meal is often an expected part of flying with aircraft charters, but you can’t always expect them to be complimentary. Soft drinks and snacks might come as a courtesy of the company through which you book your flight, but alcohol and

Proper clothing

You don’t have to dress like an executive to fly like one. However, it’s important to keep in mind that it can get a bit chilly in the cabin during long flights. Regardless of where you’re flying, pack a blanket, jacket, or sweater for the flight so you’re comfortable.

Luggage

Part of the rat race that comes with flying commercial is checking and claiming your baggage. You have to wait in line to check your back, even at the skycap. Once you’ve reached your destination, you have to wait for the baggage claim to spit your bag down the chute. With a chartered flight, you can bring your bag directly onto the plane with you. While it’s convenient to bring your bags with you, it’s important that you inform the flight crew about what all you’re bringing.

Wi-Fi

It’s tough to get anything done when you’re flying a commercial airline. The Wi-Fi is often overloaded or not great to begin with. A chartered flight typically comes with complimentary Wi-Fi that has enough bandwidth for you to get work done while you’re in the air.

How to choose an aircraft

Choosing the proper aircraft for your flight takes more than simply hopping on something that flies. You’ll need to take a few things into consideration before booking your plane.

Number of passengers

Like renting a car when you reach your destination, your aircraft can accommodate only a certain number of people. Consider how many people are traveling in your party when booking your plane. Small jets can usually seat four to six passengers, while larger planes are built for up to nine. Be aware of the size of your travel party when you’re making your travel arrangements.

Cost

Account for what it’s going to cost to fly a chartered aircraft. It’s not uncommon for private airplane companies to bill passengers by flight hours. Furthermore, the cost of your flight will also be determined by the size of the plane you charter and fuel consumption during the flight. Ultimately, you’ll need to keep in mind that flying on a private plane is going to be more costly than even flying first class, but you’re paying for a considerable amount of amenities and conveniences that you’ll never get with a commercial airline.
